2026 wide receiver Lavar Keys commits to Indiana

Indiana football continued to put the finishing touches on its 2026 recruiting class Sunday evening, landing a commitment from three-star wideout and former Penn State commit Lavar Keys.

Keys, a 5-foot-11 and 175-pound native of Landover, Maryland, announced his commitment to head coach Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers via social media. He chose Indiana over Maryland and Kansas State.

“[Indiana] feels like a second home,” Keys told TheHoosier.com. “[I] love what [Cignetti] has going.”

Keys, who decommitted from Penn State following the firing of James Franklin earlier this season, is rated as a the No. 835 overall player and the No. 118 overall receiver, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking.

Keys, who visited Bloomington for Indiana’s blowout win over UCLA last month, noted that the culture Cignetti has instilled in the program was a big selling point during his recruitment.

“What continues to excite me about Cig is that he knows what the standard here at IU is — it’s winning,” Keys said. “And I love that about him.”

As for why Indiana made the most since for Keys, it came down to more than what the Hoosiers are doing on the football field.

“I’m looking for the best fit for me,” Keys explained. “I’m trying to look past the logos and all that other stuff. I want to find the place that fits me as a person and a player.”

Keys’ commitment pushes the Hoosiers to 23 pledges in the class of 2026, as he joins fellow three-stars Walker Bryson and Kortez Rupert as receiver commits in the Hoosiers’ 2026 class.
