Hours after signing an international center, Indiana basketball is in contention for another one, with 2027 Malian center Sayon Keita booking a visit to Bloomington for tomorrow, July 29.

Keita is considered to be one of the top international prospects on the 2027 class, with him ranking as the No. 1 center outside the United States according to various rankings. Keita stands at 7-feet, but could add a couple inches to his frame, as he is just 17 years old, begin born in March of 2008.

The big man from Mali most recently played for Barcelona in the Spanish league, with 12 games played for the “Barca 2” team where he averaged 12.6 points and 9.7 rebounds on 24.7 minutes a game. He was called up to Barcelona’s top squad on three occasions throughout the 2024-25 season, but his minutes were limited in each appearance.

His visit to Indiana was first reported by Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress, where is was made known that Keita will begin his college visits today at Kansas with Indiana coming the day after. Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and UConn will all follow his visit with the Hoosiers, each of them coming the day after the previous visit.

This gives Keita six visits in six days at some of the most historic programs in the country, with Indiana right there in the mix. It’s still very early in his recruitment, but according to Givony, Keita could potentially reclass to 2026, making him eligible for the 2026-27 season.

Sources tell TheHoosier.com that Indiana is recruiting Keita as both a 2026 or 2027 prospect and will take him in either class.
