Availability Report: Safety, punter remain sidelined for Week 3 matchup against Indiana State

Indiana football safety Byron Baldwin Jr. and punter Mitch McCarthy will not play for the Hoosiers in their Week 3 meeting with Indiana State, according to the Big Ten availability report.
Last week, head coach Curt Cignetti labeled Baldwin — who is now set to miss his third consecutive game to begin his freshman season — as “day-to-day.” Cignetti declined to add any further detail as to what is keeping one of the Hoosiers’ highest-ranked recruits in program history on the sideline.
McCarthy, a transfer from UCF, appeared to have picked up an injury in Indiana’s season-opening win over Old Dominion. After his first, and only, punt attempt of the afternoon, McCarthy walked gingerly to the sideline before being replaced by Quinn Warren for the remainder of the game.

On Monday, Cignetti described McCarthy — who is missing his second straight game — as “day-to-day” as well.
Also listed on the team’s availability report was safety Bryson Bonds. The fifth-year senior will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury he sustained in the 27-14 win over the Monarchs in Week 1.
There were no other Hoosiers listed on this week’s availability report.
