After Indiana’s 31-7 win over Wisconsin, Curt Cignetti voiced his appreciation for his team’s upcoming bye week, and it appears the Hoosiers are coming out of it with promising injury news.

“We need some rest,” Cignetti said following the victory over the Badgers.

“We’ve got to get some guys back. Got a lot of guys out there playing that are banged up, and we’ve got to get healed up as good as possible.”

Following the bye week, Cignetti provided an update on some of the key players who have either missed time or dealt with lingering issues throughout the season.

“(Mikail) Kamara will start, (Elijah) Sarratt will start. Drew Evans, we’ll know more today. And he and the rest of them are working on getting back on the field,” Cignetti said during his weekly media availability.

Sarratt had been dealing with a hamstring issue suffered during the Maryland game on Nov. 1, while Kamara’s situation was described as a lingering nerve issue with his shoulder. The defensive lineman hasn’t missed an entire game, but he’s been sidelined for several drives, and most recently the second half against Wisconsin.

Evans’ injury was undisclosed, but it’s believed to have occurred in practice ahead of Indiana’s matchup at Maryland. He hasn’t played since then, and per Cignetti, his status is unknown in both the short term and long term.

A few other Hoosiers have been dealing with things here and there, but the three already mentioned were the only ones to miss time due to injury over the past few weeks.

TheHoosier.com will have more updates when they become available.
