Devin Taylor is officially headed to the professional ranks.

The Indiana slugger heard his name called Sunday night in the 2025 MLB Draft, selected by the Athletics with the No. 48 overall pick in the second round — making him the seventh Hoosier taken in the top 50 and the highest-drafted outfielder in program history.

A projected top-40 selection entering the weekend, Taylor had long been considered one of the most complete hitters in the college class — and one of the most decorated players in Indiana program history.

The Cincinnati native departs Bloomington as the Hoosiers’ all-time home run leader with 54 and ranks among the top 11 in hits (229), RBIs (179), and runs scored (191). He also sits in the top 10 in walks (125) and slugging percentage (.672), leaving behind a legacy as one of the most productive offensive players ever to wear the cream and crimson.

Taylor capped a dominant junior season in 2025 by batting .374 with 80 hits, 63 runs scored, 18 home runs, and 66 RBIs. He led Indiana in both multi-hit games (25) and multi-RBI performances (22), homering in each of the final four games of his collegiate career.

In the field, he posted a .981 fielding percentage and went error-free in his final 39 games as Indiana’s everyday left fielder.

Ranked No. 24 on MLB.com’s draft board and No. 29 by Perfect Game, Taylor was a unanimous All-American in 2025, earning First or Second Team honors from all four major outlets: Perfect Game, NCBWA, D1Baseball and Baseball America.

Over three seasons in Bloomington, Taylor helped guide Indiana to 108 wins, three Big Ten Tournament appearances, and two NCAA Tournament berths.

His raw power, advanced approach and consistent production made him one of the most feared bats in the nation — and one of the top college outfielders available in this year’s draft class.

With his selection, Taylor takes the next step in his baseball journey, bringing his record-breaking bat and elite offensive profile to the professional stage.
