Early Look: Meet Indiana's Week 10 opponent, Maryland

Indiana football stayed perfect last weekend, cruising past UCLA 56–6 in its penultimate home game of the regular season. The Hoosiers led from the second play of the game and never looked back, moving to 8–0 on the season. Now, No. 2 Indiana heads east for its first of two straight road games, beginning with a trip to College Park to face a Maryland team desperate to end a three-game losing streak. The Hoosiers are 8–5 all-time against Maryland and won last season’s matchup in Bloomington, 42–28. That game was the last Big Ten contest Indiana has played that wasn’t in front of a sold-out home crowd. Maryland’s 2025 campaign has taken a sharp turn after a promising start. The Terrapins opened 4–0 and appeared poised for a ranked showdown with Indiana before things unraveled. Since then, they’ve lost three straight — including a 20–17 defeat at UCLA two weeks ago. Maryland had a bye this past weekend and likely watched as Indiana dismantled the same Bruins team that had beaten them. Head coach Mike Locksley’s seat has grown warmer during this slide. Now in his seventh season, Locksley owns a 37–44 overall record and is just 17–43 in Big Ten play. Maryland’s lone Big Ten win this season came in Week 4 at Wisconsin, but the Badgers remain winless in conference play.
