Indiana football enters game week against Purdue fresh off a much-needed bye and with everything still in front of it. The No. 2 Hoosiers close out the regular season on Friday night with a rivalry showdown on the road, looking to secure a perfect 12-0 season and punch their ticket to the Big Ten Championship Game. The two programs enter this matchup in very different positions. Purdue has lost 17 straight Big Ten games, with its last conference victory coming in 2023 when Tom Allen coached his final game at Indiana. The Boilermakers made a coaching change during the offseason, hiring Barry Odom to replace Ryan Walters. Indiana trails the all-time series 77-43-6, but the Hoosiers currently possess the Old Oaken Bucket after last year’s emphatic 66-0 win in Bloomington. Despite Purdue’s 0-8 Big Ten record and lack of wins over Power Four opponents, it has remained competitive in stretches. The Boilermakers have played one of the nation’s most challenging schedules, ranked sixth-toughest by ESPN’s FPI, and have had narrow losses to Michigan, Rutgers, and Minnesota.
