Following two-year absence from NBA, Victor Oladipo eyeing comeback after 'impressive' workout

Following a two-year absence from the NBA, former Indiana guard and No. 2 overall pick Victor Oladipo is eyeing a return.
Oladipo, who last appeared in an NBA game in 2023 with the Miami Heat, has been gearing up for a return. That potential return was on display over the last few days with a combination of a Twitter post as well as a group workout in Las Vegas in front of NBA executives and scouts.
“I feel so great right now!! Better than I felt in the last seven years mind, body and soul,” Oladipo posted on Sunday. “I know I am a fighter! I know I am a warrior! I have seen every lens this game and this league has to offer. I know I can help any team in any role win in any way! I also know the people want to see me succeed in this game and play at the highest level again.”
Oladipo, 33, reportedly ‘impressed’ multiple executives who were in attendance for his workout on Monday.
“The two-time All-Star, 33, was part of a well-attended private workout in Las Vegas on Monday morning, with a large contingent of NBA and European teams attending,” ESPN’s Jeremy Woo wrote. “Oladipo played full-court five-on-five in a group workout of international pros. Multiple team sources in attendance came away impressed, with Oladipo described as being in excellent shape as he pursues another comeback.”
The former Indiana guard dealt with numerous injuries over the course of his career — specifically the last few years. During his last stint with the Miami Heat he tore his left patellar tendon in a playoff game against the Milwaukee Bucks, keeping him out of the NBA until now.
He also had a torn quad that ended his season in 2019, in addition to numerous other ankle injuries.

When healthy, Oladipo showed he was an extremely effective player for the Heat. In 42 games during the 2022-23 season he averaged 10.7 points, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals a game off the bench.
Oladipo, an All-Star from 2017-2019, has played in just 83 games combined since the start of the 2020 season. He hasn’t played 50 games in a season since 2018.
At the peak of his career, Oladipo averaged 23.1 points for the Indiana Pacers in 2017-18 and was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player.
He’s appeared in 504 career games and holds a 16.9 point per game averaged while shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three.
“My injuries are behind me and it will never happen again! I am at peace with that and my past,” Oladipo’s post finished. “I’m ready to build a present now and future of a life time.”
