Indiana freshman designated hitter Hogan Denny has been named the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday evening.

This marks Denny’s second time receiving the honor this season.

Denny played a key role in helping the Hoosiers secure their first road series win of the year, taking two of three games from Michigan in Ann Arbor.

The Mooresville, Indiana native batted .455 (5-for-11) and posted a .538 on-base percentage across the weekend, reaching base safely in all three games.

Denny delivered multiple-hit performances in both Thursday’s and Friday’s victories, including a two-RBI showing in the series opener that helped lift Indiana to a narrow 8-7 win. He added two runs scored during the series and finished with a .636 slugging percentage.

With the latest weekly honor, Denny becomes one of two Indiana players — alongside freshman first baseman Jake Hanley — to earn multiple Freshman of the Week nods in 2024.

The Hoosiers’ freshman class has now collected six of the 14 Freshman of the Week awards given out by the Big Ten this season, with Denny, Hanley, third baseman Will Moore, and shortstop Cooper Malamazian each receiving recognition.

Denny concludes the regular season with a .288 batting average, 38 hits, six home runs, and 24 RBIs. He’s been a consistent contributor in the heart of Indiana’s lineup and a steady presence at the designated hitter spot.

Indiana now turns its attention to the postseason, opening the Big Ten Tournament on Tuesday afternoon against No. 10-seeded Rutgers.
