Indiana first baseman Jake Hanley named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Indiana baseball freshman Jake Hanley has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Hanley becomes the first player in the league to earn multiple Freshman of the Week honors in 2025 and just the second Hoosier in the past two seasons to do so.
The honor comes after a monster week at the plate for Hanley, who helped lead Indiana to a perfect 4-0 record.
The first baseman batted .467 (7-for-15), slugged three home runs, drove in nine runs, and scored six times. His biggest performance came Wednesday night against Evansville, when he went 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs in a dominant 14-6 victory.

He’s also started every one of the Hoosiers’ 48 games this year, quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s most consistent threats. Hanley’s impressive campaign has him firmly in the conversation for Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors.
He’s the first Indiana player to win multiple Freshman of the Week awards since Devin Taylor did so three times in 2023 — the same season Taylor was ultimately named the conference’s top freshman.
This is the fifth time an Indiana player has received the Freshman of the Week nod this season, joining teammates Will Moore, Hogan Denny, Cooper Malamazian, and Hanley himself.
The Hoosiers return home next weekend to close out the regular season home slate, hosting in-state rival Purdue for a three-game series at Bart Kaufman Field from May 9–11.
