Hoosiers Dominate Indiana State 73-0, Finish Non-Conference 3-0

By Shannon Griffith, Lead Football Analyst
Bloomington, Ind. – Indiana closed its non-conference schedule with authority, crushing Indiana State 73-0 on Friday night at Memorial Stadium. The Hoosiers improved to 3-0 and looked every bit the part of a team ready to take on the Big Ten gauntlet.
Indiana’s offense was unstoppable, piling up 680 yards of total offense. Wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. delivered a career night with 10 receptions for 207 yards and four touchdowns, while freshman running back Khobie Martin (Fishers, Ind.) paced the rushing attack in his breakout performance. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza was sharp and efficient, directing an offense that scored almost at will.
The defense matched the offensive fireworks with a suffocating performance of its own, limiting the Sycamores to just 77 total yards. Indiana’s speed, discipline, and depth were on full display as wave after wave of defenders kept ISU bottled up.

With the non-conference slate complete — victories over Old Dominion, Kennesaw State, and Indiana State — the Hoosiers head into the Big Ten season at 3-0. Indiana has established a balanced offense, a big-play receiving threat in Cooper, emerging depth in the backfield, and a defense that looks prepared for tougher challenges ahead.
The stage is now set for a primetime showdown against Illinois next Saturday night in Bloomington.
