Indiana football is back on the road, looking to continue their perfect start when they travel to College Park to face Maryland

The No. 2 Hoosiers are coming off a dominant 56-6 win over UCLA, but face a Maryland team coming off a bye week.

Maryland is 4-3 but has lost their last three games against UCLA, Nebraska, and Washington. Head coach Mike Locksley is in his 7th year of his second stint with Maryland and is 36-39 during this stint.

The Terrapins are 2-11 in conference games over the last two seasons, having struggled since winning bowl games in three straight seasons from 2021-23.

Below is the full preview ahead of Saturday’s week ten game.

Opposition Q&A: Maryland head coach Mike Locksley, players preview Week 10 clash with Indiana

Key Question

How does Indiana Football handle a desperate Maryland team?

After a 4-0 start, Maryland’s season has taken a sharp turn as the Terrapins have lost their last three games.

Maryland head coach Mike Locksley’s seat is warming as a once-promising start to the season has completely flipped.

Coming off a bye week, they’ve had two weeks to prepare for Indiana as they try to steady a sinking ship.

A win over the Hoosiers would completely turn their season around and put them in a prime position to earn bowl eligibility.

The Terrapins’ ability to force turnovers on defense, combined with their ability to take care of the football on offense, is what makes them a dangerous team capable of pulling off an upset.

The Hoosiers have done a good job of putting these types of games away early under Cignetti. Last week, Indiana went up 28-0 in the first half against a UCLA team that just beat Maryland.

We also saw Indiana struggle early in the game against Michigan State the week prior and in an early-season win over Old Dominion.

Getting off to a strong start and putting this game away early will be crucial for Indiana football.

With this game being on the road, the longer Maryland stays in the game, the more dangerous they’ll become.

A hot start from Indiana could kill any belief Maryland has that they can pull off the upset, as the Hoosiers will hope to cruise to their ninth win of the season.

Matchup History

This will be the 14th matchup between Indiana and Maryland with the Hoosiers leading the all-time series 8-5.

Their last meeting occurred in 2024 when the Hoosiers took down the Terrapins 42-28 to snap a three game losing streak in the matchup.

Indiana’s star wide receiver duo made a big impact in the win as Elijah Sarratt caught seven passes for 128 yards and a touchdown while Omar Cooper Jr. caught four for 83 yards and touchdown.

Indiana’s last win in College Park was in 2019 and have lost their last two road games vs Maryland.
