Incoming Indiana freshman guard Aleksa Ristic and Serbia wrapped up play in the U20 FIBA EuroBasket on Sunday afternoon with a loss to France in the Third Place game, 73-62.

Serbia won the first five games before losing its final two in the Semifinals and Third Place game.

Ristic finished play with averages of 11.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 6.3 assists a game — ranked 4th in the tournament. He had 44 assists to just 17 turnovers in seven games — a 2.59 assist to turnover ratio.

Ristic 45.9 percent on 2s but struggled to find his shot from three, finishing just 9-of-40 in the tournament.

The incoming Indiana freshman is known for his shooting ability despite his shooting struggled in Greece over the past two weeks. He shot 38.6 percent from three during his season with KK Dynamic and shot 41.2 percent with Serbia in the 2024 EuroBasket.

The biggest development in his game these past two weeks has been his passing and playmaking ability.

“I mean, in my club over in Belgrade, it’s been just me on the ball for the whole time I play and I know how to do that really, really well,” Ristic told TheHoosier.com last month. “But when it comes to national team, I do both. I do both on and off the ball, so other players can get involved. So I’m pretty excited to see how it will go, but from all the practices I can see myself doing pretty good. I’m very excited about the European basketball tournament.”

Ristic — a 6-foot-5 guard — is finalizing his visa approval process but is expected to arrive in Bloomington before Indiana makes its trip to Puerto Rico August 5-12.
