Indiana University's Drew Evans (62) stretches during fall practice at the Mellencamp Pavilion at Indiana University on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024.

Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti shared some positive injury news during Big Ten Media Days regarding offensive lineman Drew Evans and transfer cornerback Amariyun Knighten.

Evans was in the midst of a strong season before tearing his achilles before the Hoosiers’ matchup against Michigan last season.

Cignetti shared that the left guard has been fully cleared ahead of the start of fall camp.

Cignetti said Evans is a “full go” but will be “managed” during camp.

Evans started in nine games last season for Indiana after redshirting in 2023.

Cignetti emphasized that the offensive line needed to improve in 2025, and having Evans back will be a big boost for that unit.

On the other side of the football, Cignetti shared that Knighten also has been cleared for fall camp after suffering an undisclosed injury during spring camp.

The Northern Illinois transfer could play a big role in the Indiana secondary behind projected starters D’Angelo Ponds and Jamari Sharpe.

Knighten was named the Lott Trophy National Defensive Player of the Week after a Week 2 interception against Notre Dame that set up the game-winning field goal.

Evans and Knighten’s return from injury is a big boost for Indiana ahead of fall camp.
