Indiana stays at No. 2 in updated College Football Playoff rankings
Indiana football finishes the regular season at No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings ahead of the Big Ten Championship on Saturday.
It will be No. 1 Ohio State vs No. 2 Indiana in Indianapolis — with the winner clinching the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoffs.
As it currently stands, Indiana would play the winner of No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 10 Notre Dame.
The biggest question ahead of the Big Ten Championship? Will the loser of the game receive a bye in the first round?
“I don’t expect any handouts,” Cignetti said. “We’ve earned everything up to this point and we’ve got to earn it on Saturday … The way you play should mean something.

Indiana has taken down current No. 5 Oregon and won at No. 23 Iowa on the road, came from behind to beat Penn State at Happy Valley — the first time in program history — beat then No. 9 Illinois by 50+ points and currently hold the nation’s longest home-winning streak.
Indiana enters Saturday’s game 23-2 under Curt Cignetti — the two losses to Ohio State and Notre Dame last season, the National Champion and runner-up.
“While that was not an enjoyable experience, it was necessary for our growth and development,” Cignetti said of IU’s losses. “We didn’t respond very well (to either game) … those were two experiences that helped us get ready for this one … we’ve met every challenge this season because of the way we’ve prepared.”
