Incoming Indiana freshman guard Aleksa Ristic led Serbia to a Group D clinching in on Monday afternoon as Serbia defeated France 84-65.

Ristic, who struggled with his shot in the first two games of group play, had a game-high 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting, with 8 assists. He was 2-of-7 from three, however, bringing his total to 2-of-17 in three games of group play.

Ristic is averaging 13.7 points, 6.3 assists and has a 3.15 assist-to-turnover ratio thus far through three games. His playmaking and ability to play both on and off the ball has shown this summer — something he was looking forward to putting on display.

“I mean, in my club over in Belgrade, it’s been just me on the ball for the whole time I play and I know how to do that really, really well,” Ristic told TheHoosier.com last month. “But when it comes to national team, I do both. I do both on and off the ball, so other players can get involved. So I’m pretty excited to see how it will go, but from all the practices I can see myself doing pretty good. I’m very excited about the European basketball tournament.”

Ristic averaged 9.4 points and 2.4 assists while shooting 41.2 percent from three for Serbia last summer during the 2024 EuroBasket.

During his season with KK Dynamic this year, Aleksa Ristic averaged 13.8 points and 4.2 assists while shooting 38.6 percent from three.

Serbia will play Ukraine in the Round of 16 on Wednesday at 8:30 am ET. The winner will play either Spain or Czech Republic on Thursday.
