Korbyn Dickerson goes No. 152 in 2025 MLB Draft after breakout season at Indiana

Korbyn Dickerson’s breakout year in Bloomington has officially earned him a shot at pro baseball.
The redshirt sophomore was selected by the Seattle Mariners with the No. 152 overall pick in the fifth round in the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday, becoming the second Hoosier to hear his name called during the event.
Dickerson joins teammate Devin Taylor as the second Hoosiers taken this year.

A Louisville native and transfer from the University of Louisville, Dickerson turned heads in his lone season in Bloomington.
He slashed .314/.381/.632 with 19 home runs and a team-high 77 RBIs, while showcasing plus bat speed, advanced athleticism and some of the highest exit velocities in the Big Ten.
Dickerson earned First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Defensive Team honors in 2025, along with a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings Midwest First Team All-Region. He also collected national recognition with a Third Team All-America nod from Baseball America — his first career All-America selection.

Though unranked in the top 200 of his high school draft class, Dickerson has emerged as one of this year’s top upside plays.

Scouts remain intrigued by his 20/20 potential, plus speed and raw tools, though some evaluators remain cautious due to his limited collegiate track record and swing-and-miss risk.
Still, Dickerson’s development was one of the more impressive storylines of the 2025 college season. He started 60 games in center field for the Hoosiers, finishing with a .985 fielding percentage and flashing enough athleticism to potentially stick up the middle, though most project him as a corner outfielder long-term.
Dickerson’s selection continues Indiana’s strong track record under head coach Jeff Mercer, who has now seen 28 players drafted since taking over the program in 2019. Dickerson is the ninth Hoosier to go in the top five rounds over that stretch.
With his selection, Dickerson’s meteoric rise now continues at the next level, where his tools and power profile will make him one of the more intriguing names to watch in this year’s class.
