Two Hoosiers named to 2025 Big Ten Preseason Honors list

Two Indiana football players found themselves on the 2025 Big Ten Preseason Honors list, as the Hoosiers were one of just seven schools with players to make the list.

Senior defensive end Mikail Kamara and junior cornerback D’Angelo Ponds made the list for Indiana after their standout performances in 2024.

Indiana joined Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota as the only Big Ten schools with players on the list.

Ponds was an All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection a season ago after finishing with 55 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, and 12 pass breakups in 13 games.

Kamara recorded 47 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks en route to earning a first-team All-Big Ten selection and national All-America recognition in 2024.

Both players were also named Walter Camp Preseason All-Americans earlier this month.

Both Ponds and Kamara followed Curt Cignetti to Indiana from James Madison and have proven to be critical pieces to the Hoosiers’ defense.

Kamara is one of three Hoosiers in Las Vegas, joining linebacker Aiden Fisher and wide receiver Elijah Sarratt for this week’s Big Ten Media Days.

Following their historic 2024 season, several Hoosiers have garnered considerable praise from national media ahead of the 2025 season.

With more awards lists to come, Indiana could see even more players honored ahead of the season.
