Devan Kennedy commits to the Iowa Hawkeyes
Defensive end Devan Kennedy is headed to the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Arizona prep announced his verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes today after making an official visit to campus this past weekend.
“Iowa is home,” Kennedy told HawkeyeReport.com. “They’re known for developing their players on and off the field. I trust the staff and love the community over in Iowa City.”
Kennedy, whose father Jimmy Kennedy played at Penn State before becoming a first-round draft pick by the Rams in 2003, chose the Hawkeyes over scholarship offers from Penn State, Illinois, Oregon State, UTEP, Idaho, Bowling Green, Fordham, and Northern Arizona, among others.

Playing football for the first time as a junior in high school, Kennedy showed a ton of athleticism at Brophy Prep in 2022 and has now gone from 190 pounds up to 245 this off-season. With a 7-foot wingspan, there is no doubt that there is a lot of upside there.
Overall, Kennedy is commitment No. 13 for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2024. The three-star prospect joins Cam Buffington, Cody Fox, Preston Ries, Derek Weisskopf, Josh Janowski, James Resar, Drew Campbell, Xavier Williams, Brevin Doll, Bodey McCaslin, Will Nolan, and Michael Burt in the Iowa’s recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 29 in the country.
