Spring ball flew by at Kansas State in April. And with that the summer has arrived and the football regular season will be here before we know it. In fact, Big 12 Media Days is a little over a week away. Not long after that will be the start of training camp (since the Wildcats play a week earlier).

At KSO, we have tackled the K-State roster position by position while gathering inside information, determined who the Wildcats will count on, provided projected depth charts and offered bold predictions.

The offensive side has already been tackled, and it is time to turn our attention to the Kansas State defense, beginning with those playing on the edge. Could it in fact be the best position group on the team in 2025?

Don’t sleep on the interior of the K-State defensive line either, which is led by multi-year contributors Damian Ilalio and Uso Seumalo. Many Big 12 teams wish they were as experienced and as skilled in the middle of the defensive line.

Looking at linebacker in 2025 is an interesting practice. They need to be a bit better across the board, but Kansas State may have the best one in the league in Austin Romaine. But what can the rest of the room do and what are they capable of?

There is no bigger mystery on the K-State roster than cornerback, where up to five different players could turn out to be a starter. While that shows depth, it also oozes uncertainty in a year where the Wildcats believe they can win the Big 12.

Star power comes to mind when I think deeply about the Kansas State safety position, though they have their own batch of questions and concerns. Specifically, health and readiness will be topics of discussion until kickoff.
