Kansas State Snags Another Q1 Win Over No. 6 Iowa State On Senior Day Instnat Reaction

Kansas State response

Head coach Jerome Tang challenged Kansas State after the 90-68 loss to Kansas Tuesday night. He spoke strongly to his team and demanded a better effort. The K-State head coach even went as far as to say his team did not put in an effort deserving to wear the Kansas State uniform.

However, he saw his team immediately respond to that message and the new light in their eyes.

The K-State coaching staff did a great job telling the team what was needed to get in the NCAA Tournament and the Wildcats answered. Kansas State played inspired on defense and held Iowa State to 58 points and forced 14 Cyclone turnovers.

K-State tournament path

Beating Iowa State Saturday creates a path for K-State to make the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats will play Wednesday night in Kansas City. Tang is excited about the opportunity and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.

Kansas State has now won four quad one games and has won three games against Top 10 teams and four ranked teams. Last season, K-State lost their first game to TCU in Kansas City. This season the Wildcats wants to play in the T-Mobile Center more than a year ago.

They’ll face Texas first.

Slump buster for Carter

Cam Carter has been in a funk the last few weeks. Tuesday night was especially tough for him when he totaled just three points and was 1 of 7 from the field.

He hit some big shots in big moments to extend the Kansas State lead. The junior guard seems to have broken out of his slump with 21 points, five rebounds and three assists and was very efficient from the field.

A major area of improvement was just simply holding onto the ball. He only had two turnovers in 34 minutes of action.

Carter has looked like himself more in practice the last few days after the game in Lawrence. His teammates have done a good job of encouraging him, but he has done a good job looking in the mirror and improving.
