One of the recruits Kentucky is expected to go all-in on? Five-star shooting guard Josh Christopher out of Bellflower, CA. Christopher, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound wing, is considered a consensus top-10 prospect in the class of 2020. While he doesn't have an offer from Kentucky, Coach Cal and the UK coaching staff has been in consistent contact with the elite scorer, and a scholarship could be coming sooner rather than later. In an interview with Krysten Peek of Rivals.com, Christopher said that Kentucky is one of the schools recruiting him the hardest as of late, and he is planning on taking two trips to Lexington over the next several months. "Kentucky hit me up last year, but they also kind of entered the mix a little heavier this year," he said. "They haven't offered yet, but I talk to Coach Calipari and Coach Payne [a lot]. I'm supposed to get out on a visit this summer and take an official in the fall. I'm looking forward to that, as well." When asked to discuss his interest in the Wildcats, the five-star guard said that Kentucky has actually been his dream school since he was a little kid. "Kentucky has always been my dream school, honestly," he said. "Since I was a child, I've always been a Kentucky fan, I've had the shorts, I've had gear when they won championships. As a little child I've always loved Kentucky." While he loves UK and will absolutely give them a legitimate shot when it comes time for a decision, Christopher said that he understands that he will have to take the emotional aspect out of it and do what is best for his future. "As I narrow my list down and stuff like that, of course you take into consideration of your future and not just your dreams, your emotional aspect of it," he said. "But definitely since they're showing interest in me, I'll have to pay that respect [back] from being a fan." As a California native, Christopher said that he will also give the schools out West solid consideration, specifically those in the PAC-12. "I'm a homebody, I love California, I love the West coast," he said. "All those schools are appealing to me. Oregon, UCLA, Cal, USC, all those schools in the PAC-12, really." Check out the interview below: https://youtu.be/n-7jAKXCjTU While Coach Cal certainly has a lot of work to do, and that obviously starts with offering a scholarship, it doesn't sound like a decision will be coming anytime soon for the elite prospect. With Kentucky getting unofficial and official visits in the coming months, I certainly like the "dream school's" chances in the long haul.
