It’s time to bust out the calendars, plan your fall weddings and Saturdays at Kroger Field. The 2024 Kentucky football schedule is finally here.

The 2024 college football season will be one of many firsts. It’s the first year of the 12-team CFB Playoff, the first year of SEC football with Texas and Oklahoma, and it’s the first year that ESPN will hold all of the television rights to SEC football.

The move to an exclusive TV partner made for quite a scene Wednesday night. Various games were slowly leaked through ESPN reporter Chris Low before some of the bigger matchups and game times were announced on Monday Night Football and Good Morning America. It all culminated with a two-hour special on ESPN that was simulcast on SEC Network.

Entering tonight’s show we knew two things. The way the calendar falls this year gives each team two bye weeks. We also already had each opponent lined up, just without specific dates. Without further adieu, here is how the next Kentucky football schedule will unfold.

Important Highlights

Kentucky will play eight home games at Kroger Field with four straight in Lexington to kick off the season. The Wildcats most recently hosted eight home games in 2022.

The Cats will have three SEC games before their first bye, including a week three matchup between Brock Vandagriff and his former school, Georgia. Like the 2023 slate, the back end of next year’s schedule is not easy. The Cats draw Tennessee in the first week of November, then end the season at Texas and against Louisville.

This is just the second time Kentucky has traveled to Austin for a football game. Bear Bryant took the Wildcats on the road to open the 1951 season. Despite outgaining the Longhorns, six Kentucky turnovers were the difference-maker as Texas was victorious with a narrow 7-6 win. Kentucky’s last game in the Lone Star State was a 20-14 overtime loss to Texas A&M in 2018.

This is a thread you need to see. Kentucky had some fun with AI illustrations as ESPN rolled out the schedule.
