Camp season isn’t just for young prospects looking to get in front of college coaches, it also serves as an opportunity for under-the-radar upperclassmen to put themselves on the map. Quaysheed “Q” Scott is an example of the latter.

Scott, a class of 2024 ATH out of Marion (SC) High, camped at the University of Kentucky on Monday. The 6-foot, 185-pounder left Lexington with a scholarship offer, his first from a Power 5 program. Although Scott already held over a dozen Division I offers, the Wildcats elected to pull the trigger as his first major opportunity after he shined during this week’s camp setting.

“I like the environment. (Kentucky) showed me around campus after the visit,” Scott, who posted an impressive 4.4-second 40-yard dash on the laser during his UK camp, told KSR shortly after receiving his offer. “They showed a lot of love, took pictures. I love the environment a lot there.”

On3 considers Scott a three-star recruit and a top 100 ATH in the ’24 class.

Scott is a rising senior at Marion High School, so there isn’t much time left in his recruiting process, but an offer from Kentucky could potentially change his approach down the stretch. In fact, it wasn’t until this past February that he began to gain significant college interest. The likes of Appalachian State, Miami (OH), Marshall, Georgia Southern, and several others have extended offers in just the last few months.

As Scott continues to rack up impressive 40-yard dash times (he was clocked at 4.3 seconds when he camped at South Carolina last week), more and more schools are showing interest. He’ll camp at Ole Miss on Friday in hopes of standing out even more.

Kentucky began to show interest in Scott while he was finishing up track season a couple of months ago. He ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash during that time, which was good enough for the coaching staff to invite him down for an in-person camp evaluation. Wildcats’ defensive backs coach Chris Collins is the primary recruiter for Scott, who sees him as a cornerback at the college level.

“I would like a school that I can bond with real good and I really bond with Kentucky good,” Scott said. “I love the staff.”

As for a decision timeline, Scott is looking to make his announcement sometime in July, although that could change depending on how the next few weeks play out. As a junior at Marion, Scott recorded 26 total touchdowns on offense with 940 receiving yards and 540 rushing yards. On defense, he racked up 64 tackles, seven interceptions, and four pass breakups.
