J’Alan Terry lives in Tennessee, but his first Division I football scholarship came from the Kentucky Wildcats. The class of 2025 athlete out of Cleveland (TN) Bradley Central received his offer from Wildcats’ wide receivers coach Scott Woodward all the way back in Feb. 2022 during his freshman season. Last weekend, he was finally able to get to Lexington for his first-ever trip to UK.

“I enjoyed it,” Terry, who saw Kentucky come up short against Tennessee at Kroger Field, told KSR. “I thought it was gonna be a close game from the start. Me and some commits we’re talking, they showed love. We were talking about the score prediction.”

Terry, who checks in at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, primarily suits up at running back and wide receiver for Bradley Central. Considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals, he holds a handful of Division I offers. Along with Kentucky, the likes of Austin Peay, Central Michigan, Toledo, Charlotte, and Eastern Kentucky have extended scholarships.

But Terry is also hearing from several Power 5 programs, including Tennessee (which he’s visited several times over the years already), Wisconsin, Arkansas, Clemson, Duke, and Ole Miss (which he’s also visited recently). He says he plans to make another trip to Tennessee soon and possibly one to Georgia, as well.

Although last weekend was Terry’s first trip to UK, he was familiar with the program before his offer even came in.

“We got this thing called National Playmakers Academy,” Terry said. “(Kentucky’s) receiver Barion Brown and the two Wade twins (Keaten and Destin), they were in the program and I always looked up to them. Seeing them there and they like it. I think I would like it too.”

Terry played with all three at NPA before they went off to Kentucky. Also of note, Terry is teammates at Bradley Central with four-star ATH Boo Carter, who has been committed to Tennessee since June but was once a high-level target for the Wildcats coaching staff. Carter did not join Terry on his visit to UK.

Behind Terry and Carter, Bradley Central finished off the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. The Bears will begin its run postseason run to a state championship on Friday night against West Ridge (5-4).
