Kentucky football tight end Josh Kattus has quickly become a fan-favorite among the Big Blue Nation. The sophomore out of Cincinnati (OH) Moeller made a name for himself near the end of the 2022 season as a true freshman. All seven of his receptions and 125 of his receiving yards last year came in the final four games of the regular season. Kattus, known around KSR headquarters as the “ass kicker” is now the No. 2 tight end in Liam Coen’s offense behind super senior Brenden Bates. The coaching staff and his teammates have raved all offseason about Kattus’ constantly high energy levels.

Now what if I told you that Kentucky is looking to add another player from the same bloodline?

Tucker Kattus is a three-star class of 2025 offensive lineman out of Cincinnati (OH) St. Xavier. The high school junior is already bigger at 6-foot-5, 290 pounds than his older brother Josh, who checks in at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds. Tucker is considered the No. 490 overall prospect in his class by the On3 Industry Ranking and is hearing from the likes of Kentucky, Michigan (where his dad was a talented tight end), Cincinnati, Duke, Clemson, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Tennessee, and many more.

The Wildcats were actually his first scholarship offer, which isn’t unusual for a recruit being hunted by associate head coach Vince Marrow. UK offered him over two years ago in June 2021, long before Josh had even arrived on campus. Tucker was back in Lexington on Saturday to catch Kentucky’s 44-14 win over Ball State.

“It was really fun,” Kattus told KSR. “I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be that packed for some reason, but it was loud and everyone was all happy and chanting Go Big Blue.”

Although he didn’t arrive in Lexington until roughly 3:00 a.m. the morning of the matchup due to his own high school game taking place in Chattanooga, TN on Friday night, he was still able to soak in the gameday atmosphere. Tucker tailgated with his family pregame, got a front-row seat to the Wildcats’ victory, and even hung out with Josh after the game, who continues to do some light recruiting with his little brother.

“He definitely tries to recruit me a little bit but he wants me to go wherever I want to go,” Tucker added.

Josh surely wants what’s best for his youngest sibling, but there’s no denying that the idea of the two teaming up together in college has crossed their minds.

It would be absolutely insane (to play together). It would be like a dream come true,” Tucker said.

Both Josh and Tucker have aspirations of making it to the NFL one day down the road. That was part of Marrow’s recruiting pitch to Josh. It’s now being preached to Tucker, who is being recruited as a left tackle or left guard at the college level.

“(Marrow is) always saying if you want to be like your big brother, if you want to be great, come here and you’ll play in the league someday,” Tucker said. “If you want to be around great people come here.”

Kentucky was his first stop of the season, but it won’t be his last. Kattus says he has intentions to go visit Clemson, Tennessee, Michigan, and Penn State sometime this fall.

“I want to love the school in the first place,” Kattus said about what he’s looking for in a college. “I want to feel like if I go there it’s gonna be my home. I want to be around coaches I love being around. I want to feel like the coaches really want me there, I want to go somewhere I can be developed to my best, go to the league someday hopefully.”
