3-star TE Willie Rodriguez will make college decision on Friday

Could the Big Blue Nation get another #Yahtzee in the next 24 hours?
Three-star tight end Willie Rodriguez posted on Twitter Thursday night that he will make his college decision on Friday, June 23. The Covington (KY) Catholic product has taken three official visits in recent weeks, making stops at Purdue (May 31), Virginia Tech (June 5), and Kentucky (June 9). Rodriguez checks in at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds and is considered one of UK’s top tight end targets in the 2024 class.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Rodriguez is rated as the No. 886 overall rising senior in the country, the 45th-best tight end, and the fourth-best player from the Bluegrass State. There are currently four RPM picks logged in favor of Rodriguez ultimately choosing the Wildcats on Friday.
Rodriguez is being primarily recruited by associate head coach Vince Marrow, who has received some recent assistance along the way from 2024 quarterback commit Cutter Boley.
“I got to finally meet (Boley) and hang out with him all weekend,” Rodriguez told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ following his official visit. “It was great. He’s really cool. We hung out basically the whole weekend. It was really cool to be able to meet him in person.”

Doubling as a star wrestler for Covington Catholic, Rodriguez didn’t receive an offer from Kentucky until mid-April, but once Marrow pulled the trigger, the Wildcats have been trending as the favorite ever since. He holds additional offers from the likes of Louisville, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Texas Tech, among others.
“It’s really about how Coach [Liam] Coen, Coach Marrow, Coach [Mark] Stoops, Coach [C.J.] Conrad (who is now the tight ends coach at Eastern Kentucky) run that offense, how they run that program, and the players coming out,” Rodriguez said. “Being in the SEC, they’re playing the highest competition every year. It’s close to home.”
Kentucky has been on a recruiting roll this week, locking up four commitments in three days to give the Wildcats eight total for the 2024 class. Could the ninth be on the way? You might want to tune into the radio show on Friday morning…
