Trey McNutt is considered a top 100 prospect in the entire class of 2025 by the On3 Industry Ranking. The 6-foot, 180-pound rising junior is hearing from some of the most prestigious football programs around, including Ohio State, Southern California, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan, among plenty more.

The Kentucky Wildcats are also in the mix. In fact, they plan to host McNutt for an unofficial visit in under two weeks. According to On3’s Chad Simmons, the Shaker Heights (OH) product has six visits planned between now and the middle of June. One of those includes a stop in Lexington on Saturday, June 10 to check out what UK has to offer. That weekend is going to be a massive one for the Wildcats, which expects to host a giant list of four- and three-star prospects from the 2024 class for official visits.

UK associate head coach Vince Marrow extended an offer to McNutt back in February. He is ranked as a four-star recruit, the No. 95 overall prospect in the nation, the ninth-best athlete, and the second-best player from Ohio. The versatile playmaker has lined up at receiver, cornerback, and safety for Shaker Heights.

As of Nov. 2022, McNutt held just one Power 5 scholarship offer from Pittsburgh. Since then, his recruitment has blown up. West Virginia, Illinois, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Kentucky got involved during the winter before the big-name schools did the same beginning in early spring. Along with UK, McNutt will also visit Michigan, Purdue, Tennessee, WVU, and Ohio State over the coming weeks.

It will be his first visit to five of those programs, with camp opportunities locked in for Tennessee and Ohio State. He’s already visited Ohio State, Notre Dame, Southern California, UCLA, Northwestern, and Wisconsin during the spring, along with a January trip to Pittsburgh.

“I’m definitely looking for a family, to follow into a brotherhood,” McNutt told On3 earlier this month. “I want to be welcomed into a place, I want to feel like they actually need me or want me.”

The early sense is that Ohio State could be tough to beat for the talents of McNutt. His father, Richard, was a cornerback for the Buckeyes in the early 2000s and is now a defensive backs coach at Tennessee State. OSU recently offered Trey at the beginning of April.
