5 Gifts for Kids for People Who Don't Have Kids

You just spent a week refreshing KSR for updates on the Kentucky football coaching search, then got depressed watching Kentucky basketball. It was a bit crazy. Now the hectic holiday season is here and you’ve got to buy gifts. The sooner, the better.

Buying gifts is one of many things that can create a stressful holiday season. There are plenty of aunts and uncles out there who want to treat their nieces and nephews, but what do you get? You could give them the wrong thing, or just some piece of junk that’s going to clutter the house. Allow me to share a few inexpensive options that will be put to good use.

Magnet Tiles

It’s a shame this innovation in toys was not around when we were children. It’s like somebody asked, “What if we made blocks, but they don’t require a degree in physics to use?” They run about $25 a set and even if they already have some version of this, there are plenty of variations you can purchase that will certainly be put to good use.

Pop Push Game

Kids love these little poppers, but once they hit a certain age, a little extra stimulation goes a long way. This toy turns it into a game of whack-a-mole. There is also a setting that turns it into a memory game. It’s a great way to keep a kid occupied for a long car ride or during a trip to a restaurant and only costs $10.

Mini Magnetic Cubes

This is another gift that can be a lifesaver. It’s easily stored in a diaper bag and can buy you some time when your kid needs a distraction. Whether they are two or seven, the kid will be a big fan of this $25 gift.

Sticker Books

You know what’s great about sticker books? There are hundreds of variations of sticker books. Not only do they have basics with a kid’s favorite Disney or Marvel character, but there are also sticker puzzle books, and ones that are essentially mad-libs, allowing them to create a snowman, or a Santa, or whatever they want to do with their imagination.

Color-Changing Bath Tub Toys

Bath tub toys can be disgusting. Water gets inside them and turns into mold. That’s not the case with these. You know what ensures the kid will actually like them? They change colors when they hit the water. That little change is captivating, and you can purchase them for only $10-$20.

I’m sure plenty of you are here to find out the latest on Will Stein‘s coaching staff, but if this made life easier for a dozen people this holiday season, my mission has been accomplished. Hopefully, this next month is stress-free, even though I know the Kentucky basketball team probably has different plans.
