Meleek Thomas is a consensus top 10 high school senior in the country. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard checks in at No. 6 overall by the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s also very, very high on the Kentucky Wildcats.

Thomas recently caught up with On3’s Joe Tipton to talk about Thomas’ recruitment and where thing stands heading into his final offseason before making the jump to college. Back in September, Thomas dropped a 12 that included Kentucky, along with the likes of Kansas, Duke, Tennessee, Villanova, and others.

However, the Pittsburgh (PA) Lincoln Park product has only taken three official visits so far: Kentucky, Pittsburgh, and Auburn. Here’s what he had to say about his trip to Lexington.

“They’ve had every pro I’ve ever watched,” Thomas told Tipton. “I could really see myself there. But like I said before, I’m just taking my time. I don’t want to rush anything. Coach (John Calipari’s) mental (is what stands out). He’s seen it all, he’s done it all. He puts his players in the best position. He’s sent a variety of players (to the league). So just his knowledge and what he knows stands out to me.”

Thomas took his OV to Lexington in early February and, as some of you might remember, went viral around the Big Blue Nation for the prop options he was provided during the photo shoot portion of his visit. Thomas, who is coming off his second straight PIAA Class 4A title victory, officially visited Auburn in mid-January and was at Pitt in early March.

Calipari has visited Thomas multiple times over the course of his recruitment. The head coach notably watched Thomas drop a triple-double back in December. Kentucky offered him back in April 2023 and have been considered one of the leaders ever since. He also told Tipton that “Kentucky texts me a good amount” and is among the schools in most frequent contact with him.

Right now, Thomas is in Phoenix participating in the USA Basketball Junior National Team April Minicamp, which is part of the selection process for the final junior national teams that will represent the United States in FIBA Tournaments in the summer. Thomas has been tabbed as one of the standouts through the first two days of practice by On3’s Jamie Shaw.

Thomas also recently signed with Roc Nation Sports as his agency, the same company that has ties with former Wildcats such as Immanuel Quickley, PJ Washington, and Willie Cauley-Stein, among others. Roc Nation Sports was founded by Grammy-winning artist Jay-Z.

Kentucky has yet to secure a commitment from the 2025 recruiting class.
