Caleb Wilson is one of 10 high school juniors who holds a scholarship offer from the Kentucky Wildcats. The 6-foot-9 power forward took his official visit to Lexington in October for Big Blue Madness and is near the top of John Calipari’s Big Board for the 2025 class.

Another interesting note? Wilson is a big fan of former Kentucky point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is currently an All-Star for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I’m a playmaker with a lot of size,” Wilson told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “I’ve been really working on my ball handling and my defense. I’m a shot maker and can create shots and opportunities. I watch Shai Gilgeous-Alexander every day. The way he plays with his shoulders and creates space with the bump. I watch his deceleration and acceleration.”

Wilson is a unique prospect for someone his size. Despite his height, Wilson is fluid when dribbling the ball and has shown the ability to score from almost anywhere on the floor, but he’s also effective on the glass. His shot-making consistency still needs some work — watching SGA highlights every day sure won’t hurt though. Wilson is considered the No. 5 overall high school junior in the nation by the On3 Industry Ranking.

Wilson also spoke with Shaw about his recent official visit to Kentucky. Wilson has taken OVs so far to UK, Stanford, and Auburn with potential upcoming visits to the likes of North Carolina, Baylor, Georgia Tech, and Kansas. The G League is also considered an option. John Calipari’s ability to put his players into the NBA is what attracted Wilson to UK in the first place and led to him taking an official visit a couple of months ago.

“John Calipari drew me there, plain and simple. He develops pros and he puts them in the league. That is my ultimate goal,” Wilson said. “I want to play for a coach who believes in me, so I wanted to go see his thought process and see how he felt about me as a player.

“The fan base was the best. I was on my visit taking pictures like I was a part of the team. They are crazy there. I went there for Big Blue Madness, so I got to hang with the players and see what they go through every day. I went to the football game too, which is crazy because it’s like the basketball team is the football team.”

Looking ahead, Wilson says that he’ll begin to trim down his shortlist of options by the spring. He’ll likely sign during the early signing period going into his senior season at Atlanta (GA) Holy Innocents Episcopal. Early into his junior year, Wilson is averaging 21.5 points, 14.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 3.3 blocks per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the floor.
