Following the firing of Kyra Elzy, we knew that roster turnover was inevitable. Maybe we didn’t expect nine ‘Cats to enter the portal, but we knew there would be a major reset. On March 12th, Ajae Petty would become the trend setter when she became the first UK player to enter the transfer portal this offseason.

After being Kentucky’s leader this season on the floor, the amount of doors opening before Petty would be plenty when she officially submitted her name into the portal. She went from not starting in a collegiate game in her first three years to becoming the foundational piece of an SEC team (granted, not a good one, but the point still stands). Her value skyrocketed over the course of a few short months.

So, the big question on our minds — where’s she going? Believe it or not, there seems to be momentum leaning in Kentucky’s favor, actually. You can find more info on that on KSBoard.

However, that momentum has surely slowed down since Petty openly put on social media that she is currently on an official visit to Ohio State. She arrived in Columbus on Friday, and she is scheduled to depart on April 14th.

Petty is being hosted by none other than Kennedy Cambridge — a former ‘Cat who played at Kentucky during the 2022-23 season during Kyra Elzy. There probably isn’t a more perfect person to host UK’s best player from last season than Cambridge. Never forget the “it’s nothing personal” post.

Ohio State took on Kentucky in a secret preseason scrimmage last year — a scrimmage that Kentucky would lose by 18. So, that set the tone for what would be an ugly season. Additionally, Ohio State has made some noise in transfer portal that has ultimately affected Kenny Brooks and Kentucky. And now, they could take Ajae Petty away from Kentucky.

Just leave us alone, Buckeyes.
