Could Kentucky football be in for a massive National Signing Day surprise?

On Tuesday afternoon, Alabama wide receiver commit Rico Scott posted on social media that he “will be signing tomorrow morning at Bishop McDevitt @ 9:30 am” during National Signing Day. Almost immediately after, Kentucky quarterback commit Stone Saunders, who is high school teammates with Scott, responded with the caption “Boutta shock the 🌎”.

About 30 minutes later, Saunders deleted his post.

But that was long enough for fans to interpret it a hundred different ways. It didn’t take long at all for the Big Blue Nation to run with the idea of Scott possibly flipping from Alabama to Kentucky. Scott, who has visited Kentucky multiple times in the past, is a four-star prospect considered the No. 311 overall recruit in the 2024 class by the On3 Industry Ranking.

Could this all be one giant misdirection play? It’s certainly a possibility. High school recruiting can be a crapshoot, even if there are rarely ever any coincidences. We should also keep in mind that Scott, who has been committed to Alabama since April, ended his initial post with #RollTide. Plus, Saunders’ response would ruin some of the shock value (which is maybe why he deleted it?). So take all of this a grain of salt.

We’ll find out for sure tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. EST when Scott puts pen to paper.
