Georgia Amoore and Tonie Morgan bumped into each other at the airport and took a selfie

As Georgia Amoore left Lexington for the WNBA Draft, Tonie Morgan had just arrived in town for her visit prior to her commitment to Kentucky. And I mean she had just arrived. Like, the exact same time.
The two point guards crossed paths in the airport, greeted each other, took a selfie and sent it to Kenny Brooks. It’s even better given that it was all a coincidence too, not something that UK necessarily tried to make happen.
“The great thing is they played against each other, so they know each other,” Brooks told KSR in his interview on The Memorial Memo. “We didn’t even design this, but we knew it was happening — Georgia was boarding on gate B4, and Tonie coming out on gate B3. So, they [passed each other], and they actually took a selfie and they sent it too me before we picked up Tonie. It was great.”

Now that Amoore is a top 10 WNBA Draft pick, Morgan steps in to fill her shoes (or, at least fill them to the best that she can). Brooks is hopeful that Amoore can be a bit of a mentor to Morgan.

“It’s good because they know each other. They can expand — Tonie can ask Georgia [questions],” Brooks explained. “They’re in almost identical situations — not identical — but both are coming, both came here for their last year to be able to prep to go to the next level.”
“Georgia laid the blueprint out, and that was a really good thing that was attractive to her,” he added. “They’re not close, but they know each other. It was a good situation and everything’s lined up for us, and it all worked out.”
