Well the latest AP poll was released today and not to rub salt in an open wound but it looks like things are going to get much worse before they get any better. Kentucky kicks off SEC play next week down in the swamp against number 14 Florida. Unfortunately that is probably going to be one of their easier games. The Cats finished the easiest part of their schedule with a record of 1-2 and are now facing down murders row. Here's a quick look at UK's next five opponents: #14 Florida For the second week in a row the Gators were on the road for College Gameday and picked up the win. Now the Cats have to start SEC play on the road against a team that is exceeding expectations and could challenge for the East championship as they are now 2-0 in the SEC. It's hard to see the Cats picking up the win next week after they just lost at home to Western. #7 South Carolina Then the Cats come home to face the team that beat them 54-3 last year when our strength was our defense. Last time USC came into Lexington they left with a loss. However, this year's Gamecock squad is very different than the one we upset. You never say never but its hard to see the Cats finding any way to get it done. #23 Mississippi State Of course our permanent rival from the West would be pretty good this year. The Cats just can't get a break. The Bulldogs are undefeated thus far and have been pretty good on the road in Lexington over the past few years. Arkansas Well Arkansas just got completely dismantled by Alabama to the tune of 52-0. The Cats could have a slight chance in this game is Arkansas can't turn things around. Still the game is on the road and the Razorbacks have the talent of a top-ten team even if they aren't showing it right now. Its hard to see UK leaving Fayetteville with a win, especially once Wilson returns. #5 Georgia If the Cats are 1-7 and hosting one of the best teams in the country how empty is Commonwealth going to be? Nobody wants to see the Cats getting ran off the field at home.   Last night's loss has the season looking pretty bleak after the positivity from the Kent St. win. After those five games the Cats have four games they may have a chance of winning. It will just be tough with two SEC games on the road. If Phillips is going to save his job these next five weeks are going to require us stealing one perhaps even two. With all five opponents at one point being top-25 teams that is going to be a tough task.
