Anthony Davis chose his new jersey number on NBA2K
After admitting he’s still scared of the dark on Sarah Spain’s podcast yesterday, Anthony Davis went on Jimmy Kimmel Live to share more about his new life as a Los Angeles Laker.
In addition to revealing that people on Instagram knew he was traded to the Lakers before he did because he was watching a movie and ignoring his agent’s calls, Davis gave us some insight into how he picked his new jersey number. LeBron James tried to give him the No. 23, but Nike said no, so Davis picked No. 3 by seeing what looked best on him in the video game NBA2K.
“But honestly, I just chose No. 3 because I went on 2K, the video game, and I couldn’t choose a number,” he said. “They were like, ‘You can’t pick 23, you have to pick another number.’ So I’m literally in my living room, on the video game, going to myself, edit player, and I’m going through all the numbers. The funny thing is it would go 21, 22, 25, and I’m like, ‘Dang, can’t get to 23.’ So I saw No. 3 and I was like, ‘This takes me back to elementary school where it all started,’ and I went back to No. 3.”
Works just as well as anything, I guess. Davis also described what it was like to attend one of LeBron James’ famous Taco Tuesday family dinners and whether or not he wants to do more movies after filming a cameo in Space Jam 2. Enjoy below.
