Anthony Davis Has 8th Highest Selling NBA Jersey

Turns out, forcing his way to Los Angeles was a good decision for Anthony Davis.
Not only is Davis a top-5 MVP candidate, a clear 2020 All-Star, and the leading scorer on the NBA's second-best team, but he's also selling a ton of jerseys.
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the NBA announced the top-15 highest-selling jerseys of the season and the former Kentucky big man made the cut, coming in at No. 8 - sandwiched between Joel Embiid (No. 9) and Kawhi Leonard (No. 7).

Davis is averaging 27.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game for the Lakers this season, shooting slightly over 50 percent from the floor. The bright lights of L.A. have already brought Davis more fame than his time in New Orleans did. From the research I found, Davis finished in the top-15 in jersey sales only once during his time in New Orleans - mid-way through the 2015-16 season. Halfway through his first season with the Lakers, he's already busted into the top-10.

Sitting atop the list is Davis' teammate and fellow MVP candidate, LeBron James. Zion Williamson (NOP) is the only rookie to make the cut while the Celtics, Lakers, 76ers, and Nets all have at least two players among the top-15 in sales.
Overall, none of the names on the list surprise me. It is interesting to see Jayson Tatum so high at No. 4 on this list since he's arguably the 12th or 13th best player out of the 15. But when you see that the Celtics come in at No. 2 in terms of the NBA's most popular team, it makes sense. Also, Tatum is still really good.
I also can't help but laugh at the fact the New York Knicks - the NBA's LARGEST market - didn't even make the top-10 for most popular franchises. That is bad and the Knicks front office should feel bad. Derrick Rose finished in the top-15 for jersey sales a season ago, for goodness sakes. But then again, I wouldn't imagine many fans are clamoring for that $145 Marcus Morris Sr. jersey, so I get it.
