Antonio Reeves put together an excellent performance in his second of two games at the NBA G League Elite Camp over the weekend, but it wasn’t enough to extend his stay in Chicago.

On Sunday in the Windy City, Reeves posted a team-high 16 points to go along with four rebounds in under 17 minutes of action. Although he missed all four of his outside attempts, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard did go 7-9 from inside the arc. Reeves was regularly showing off his signature floater, which became a staple of his game while at Kentucky last season.

But a poor outing on Saturday did him no favors. Reeves finished with just four points and three rebounds in game one. As a result of this weekend’s mixed bag, he was not among the eight participants invited to the NBA Draft Combine, which begins on Monday and runs through Sunday, May 21.

The eight players to earn Combine invites were Jazian Gortman (OTE), Sir’Jabari Rice (Texas), Hunter Tyson (Clemson), Johni Broome (Auburn), PJ Hall (Clemson), Tosan Evbuomwan (Princeton), Kendric Davis (Memphis), and Dillon Jones (Weber State). That puts the total number of Combine invitees at 86. There will be just 58 total picks in the upcoming 2023 NBA Draft.

Kentucky players Oscar Tshiebwe, Cason Wallace, and Chris Livingston all received Combine invites, with Tshiebwe and Livingston leaving open the option to return to college. Wallace is expected to hear his name called in the top half of the first round. Also, Kentucky forward Jacob Toppin, who has signed with an agent and will not return to college, was invited to the G League Elite Camp but did not make an appearance.

So what does this mean for Reeves’ draft stock? If you’re a Kentucky fan, it might be considered good news. Players not invited to the Combine typically don’t see themselves come off the draft board and Reeves is not currently considered as a potential selection by various mocks. This news could make a decision to return for another college season in Lexington a bit more appealing.
