Against Georgia on Jan. 20, Kentucky fifth-year guard Antonio Reeves eclipsed the 2,000-point total for his college career.

Reeves, who spent his first three seasons at Illinois State before transferring to UK ahead of the 2022-23 season, came into the Georgia game with 1,993 career points, eventually reaching the 2K mark on a free throw with 14:06 remaining in the first half. According to Sports-Reference, he became the 667th player in men’s college basketball history to reach the 2,000-point threshold.

On Wednesday night, ahead of Kentucky’s matchup against Florida inside Rupp Arena, Reeves was officially recognized for his impressive achievement in front of the Big Blue Nation. He later shared on social media a picture of the ball he received at midcourt.

Reeves, averaging a team-high 19.5 points per game, is currently playing the best basketball of his life. Even though his celebratory moment last night was followed by an upsetting loss to Florida, the steady shooter still managed 19 points. He’s arguably the most consistent scorer in the college game right now.

After his performance against Florida, Reeves now sits at 2,072 career points, which ranks 492nd all-time. With 11 games remaining on the regular season schedule, he’s on pace to score another 215 points — and that doesn’t include whatever Kentucky does in the postseason. A minimum of 215 points would put him at 2,287 career points, which would place him at 202nd all-time.

If we look at just what he’s done while in Lexington, Reeves is still going to etch his name in the record UK books. He’s poured in 877 points through 54 games played as a Wildcat, 78th in school history, per BigBlueHistory. Another 215 points this season would give him 1,092, which would rank 49th, just one point ahead of Jeff Sheppard. Of the 61 Kentucky MBB players to score at least 1K points as a Wildcat, only seven played just two seasons. Reeves is on pace to become the eighth.
