Antonio Reeves to host first youth camp in Lexington on June 1

As Antonio Reeves looks to make his NBA dreams come true on draft night in late June, the former Kentucky superstar is returning to Lexington just a few weeks prior for his first youth basketball camp.

The Antonio Reeves Basketball Camp is scheduled for June 1 in Lexington from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET, an event for kids of all skill levels from ages 6-15.

For the cost of $125, campers will receive a t-shirt, an autographed poster and instruction from the All-American guard himself, along with various drills, contests, awards and giveaways throughout the day.

Reeves finished his career at Kentucky as the all-time leading scorer under John Calipari, averaging 20.2 points per contest en route to Third Team All-America and All-SEC First Team honors. The native of Chicago started all 33 games for the Wildcats, averaging a team-high 31.4 minutes per game while finishing the year shooting 51.2% from the field, 44.7% from 3-point range and 86.3% at the foul line — all career-best marks. He was the only Power 5 player and one of just three in Division I shooting at least 50% from the field, 44% from 3 and 86% from the charity stripe.

The 6-6 guard scored in double figures in 32 of 33 games his final season, including 20 games with at least 20 points scored to become just the second Kentucky player under Calipari to have 20-plus career 20-or-more scoring efforts in his career, joining Oscar Tshiebwe. He closed out his career scoring 1,155 points in two seasons at Kentucky, the second-most in a two-year span at UK behind only Bill Spivey with 1,213.

Now, the former Wildcat is working out for teams at the NBA Draft Combine as a likely second-rounder with an outside shot at sneaking into the first.

“I’m also inching closer to an Antonio Reeves first round grade,” The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie said of the standout guard. “Not quite there, but he’s a top-40 guy for me. Awesome shooter that has real counters to what defenses present to him as a scorer. There’s just a real role for guys who can shoot like that.”
