Former Kentucky standout guard Antonio Reeves is still looking to find a long-term home in the NBA. Another franchise is ready to see what the scoring dynamo can do.

The former Illinois State transfer is moving to the Eastern Conference. Reeves has agreed to a two-way deal with the Charlotte Hornets after spending his rookie season with the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 24-year-old was a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and played 44 games for the Pels in 2024-25. Reeves posted 6.9 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 15 minutes per game on .456/.395/.800 shooting splits. The guard was waived by New Orleans on July 3 but still played with the organization’s summer league team. Now the second-year pro will move to Charlotte.

In his two years spent at Kentucky, Antonio Reeves earned SEC Sixth Man of the Year honors in 2023 and All-SEC honors in 2024. The Missouri Valley Conference transfer averaged 14.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 27.9 minutes per game on .416/.398/.783 shooting splits as a senior. Those numbers increased as a fifth-year senior when Reeves posted 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 31.4 minutes per game on .512/.447/.863 shooting splits.

Now the big-time scorer will look to carve out a role on a Charlotte team that finished 19-63 under first-year head coach Charles Lee in 2024-25.
