Ashton Hagans named Bob Cousy Award Midseason Finalist

Sophomore point guard Ashton Hagans has been named one of 10 midseason finalists for the 2020 Bob Cousy Award, presented annually to the nation’s top point guard by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Named after Hall of Fame point guard Bob Cousy, the award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles on April 10. After setting the UK single-season assist record back in 2016, Tyler Ulis is the only Wildcat to ever win the award.
Other previous winners include Ja Morant (Murray State, 2019), Jalen Brunson (Villanova, 2018), Kemba Walker (UConn, 2011), and Ty Lawson (North Carolina, 2009), among others.
The final five finalists will be revealed in March. Fan voting will go live on Friday at hoophallawrds.com. Players can play their way onto and off the list at any point during the season.

This season, Hagans is averaging 12.8 points, 7.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game, making him the only player in college basketball nation averaging at least 12.0 points, 7.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals. His 7.0 assists per game ranks eighth in the country, leads all players in the SEC, and is on pace to break Ulis’ school-record pace.
“We could say there are better point guards in the country, but you got to tell me who you’re talking about,” Calipari said earlier this season.
