The contact period for 2027 recruits began at midnight on June 15, and Kentucky has been very active. One of its top targets, Baba Oladotun, has been a clear priority. He was the first offer for Kentucky in the class, and that interest has remained strong.

Oladotun’s father, Ibrahim Oladotun, told KSR+ that Kentucky head coach Mark Pope and assistant coach Jason Hart reached out on Sunday. Despite being able to hear directly from coaches, Oladotun’s father is still handling contact from coaches.

“I definitely want to handle all the calls,” Ibrahim told KSR+ in May. “I want him to focus on just being a kid and keep working. I’m going to handle that. We’re going to tell everyone the same thing. I mean, he’s 16. Remember, he’s 16. Some of these kids are 18 years old. We’re going to listen to what everybody has to say and let them know what we’re looking for. Then, we’ll go from there.”

The 6-foot-8, 165-pound small forward from James Hubert Blake (Silver Spring, MD) is ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2027 On3 Industry Ranking. He is ranked by On3 as the No. 9 overall player in the class.

The Offer Almost Brought Baba Oladotun’s Father to Tears

Baba Oladotun and his family have held Kentucky in high regard for quite some time. His father told KSR+ that seeing his son receive an offer from Kentucky back in September made him emotional.

“I was blown away. It almost brought me to tears,” Oladotun said. “Everything that’s happening to him is very historic. That’s just remarkable. Kentucky basketball, bluegrass, and all of that stuff are a big deal. It’s living the dream.”

KSR+ is keeping track of all Kentucky’s 2027 contacts as the list slowly grows. Check out the full list on the KSBoard.
