The Wildcats avoided a second consecutive series loss, picking up a 7-3 victory over Texas A&M in an offensive resurgence on Friday night. Adam Fogel and Daniel Harris each had a pair of RBI in the middle game.

Fogel continues scorching weekend

Adam Fogel seems to be turning it around down in College Station. After a multi-hit performance on Thursday, the Hawaii transfer followed up with another one in the win. The right fielder lined a two-RBI single in the midst of a three-run third inning to make it a 4-0 game at the time. His average still sits at slightly underwhelming .256, but he has looked much more confident at the plate as the season chugs along.

Reuben Church got things rolling the inning before with an RBI single that scored Ryan Ritter after the shortstop was able to reach second due to some sloppy defense from the Aggies. The sophomore has appeared in nine games this season before Friday but had only recorded 11 at-bats.

Kentucky blew the game open with two RBI singles from Hunter Jump and Harris in the eighth, part of a three-run inning to seal the win.

Bullpen survives in the win

In a bit of a shocker, Zack Lee got the nod to start the middle game of the series. He was essentially used as an opener, going two innings of scoreless ball. It wasn’t stress free by any means — Lee allowed three walks and two hits during the span.

He was taken out with a runner on base in the third in favor of Daniel Harper. After a shaky start to the season, he’s settled down with a decent stretch of impressive performances allowing only one earned run over the last 7.2 innings before Friday.

Harper went three innings of one-run ball, doing his job and passing the torch along. Things started to get a little sketchy once he left.

Freshman Mason Moore entered next but wasn’t even able to record an out. He allowed two runs on two hits before Tyler Guilfoil had to come in to keep the lead safe. He went four more innings to finish off the game.

The Wildcats look for a series victory on Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. EST start time. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
