BBM through the Calipari years

Big Blue Madness is only four days away, so let's talk about BBM since the John Calipari era started. Big Blue Madness started in 1982 when Joe B Hall was head coach of the Wildcats. BBM was originally called "Midnight Madness" because teams were not allowed to actually start their midnight madness/practice until that specific date at 12:00 am. Since then, the Madness has become less of a practice, and more of a fun/entertaining way for the fans to meet the players. Before the Calipari era started Madness was fun, but it sure wasn't what Big Blue Madness is now. My favorite memory as a kid of BBM was watching Tubby and Mr. Wildcat come out of the DeLorean in Memorial Coliseum back in 2003. https://www.instagram.com/p/BZ3lSvMHP_i/?taken-by=kentuckymbb So let's take it back through all the BBM's since John Calipari became the head men's basketball coach at the University of Kentucky. 2009-10 season WAS the resurrection of Kentucky basketball in the twenty-first century and Madness was rocking. We saw John Wall come down from the ceiling debuting his signature John Wall dance. DeMarcus Cousins earned his "Boogie" nickname. And Coach Cal came out and talked for 30 minutes on how great this program will be once again. Here is a video of the player introductions below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoHB7ioWoYE 2010-11 was the year that Enes Kanter came out as the UnderKanter. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see Enes play during the 2010-11 season, but we did see the Cats make it all the way to the Final Four led by Brandon Knight. Anyway, here is a video of the player introductions from the 2010 BBM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClvrIOcW9WI The third BBM was the 2011-2012 year, where we got our first look at the Brow, MKG, and the 2012 National Champions. Take a look at a "rewind" of the 2011 madness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tH0D1kV1Mo8&feature=youtu.be Next up was the 2012-13 Madness. You had the awesome screen projection on the court, the raising of banner No. 8, and Archie Goodwin giving it all he had on the dance floor. Here's the recap here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJ-Gwcctdvc&feature=youtu.be In 2013-14, we were introduced to the Harrison Twins, Kentucky boys Dominique Hawkins and Derek Willis, and Matthew Mitchell's dance moves hitting full stride. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J8bXkCzEZQ&feature=youtu.be The 2014-15 season has probably been the most anticipated season yet, with all but two of our freshmen returning for their sophomore seasons, you had a rumor that Drake was going to attend BBM, and we got to meet Tyler Ulis, KAT, and Devin Booker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbXAwfjIaSo&feature=youtu.be The 2015-16 Big Blue Madness was a little sad as we had to raise a Final Four banner, rather than an undefeated National Championship banner. But we did get to meet Jamal Murray, the emergence of Ulis as one of the best point guards in UK history, and send Alex Poythress off in his final year with the Cats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSJg5ur0aN8&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGvxp8-5_0I On to last year, the 2016-17 edition of your Kentucky Wildcats. Michael Buffer announced the players, we got a little taste of what Fox and Monk could do, and more Matthew Mitchell dance moves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5Zr5f2yKmE&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCljOxhYrxw&feature=youtu.be So now this year, starting tomorrow the countdown is 4 days to Big Blue Madness 2017-18. What will we get? Any John Wall dances? More dancing from Matthew Mitchell? We do know that Drake will be there. Who knows what will happen. Either way let's just be excited that basketball is finally back in the bluegrass. Out of all of those BBM's which was your favorite? Let's hear it in the comments section.
