BBNBA: Anthony Davis goes off and Bam Adebayo records first double-double

Despite losing to the Orlando Magic last night, Anthony Davis still had himself an impressive game, recording a 39 point, 10 rebound double-double. DeMarcus Cousins took a back seat to the Brow last night, showing his versatility rather than scoring ability. Boogie has been putting his passing and dribbling skills on display through the early portions of this season and even though they lost last night, the New Orleans Pelicans have played better than expected with the two former Cats leading the charge. Here’s a look at what else happened in last night’s BBNBA.

News
- Bam Adebayo played his best game last night as a member of the Miami Heat, recoding his first double-double of the season while playing 31 minutes – which is also a season high. The Miami Heat have high expectations for the lottery pick and he’s proving that, when given the opportunity, he can be a legitimate contributor even in his rookie season.
- Malik Monk continues to struggle as a fresh rookie. After last night’s performance, Monk is shooting only 29.4 percent from the field and an abysmal 27.5 percent from three. Luckily he has plenty of time to turn it around and he will surely get enough clock to prove himself. He’s still shooting with confidence and getting open looks, his shot has just yet to adjust to the NBA three-point line.
- Karl Anthony-Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves escaped with a close win in Miami as they needed overtime to do so. Karl’s defense remains suspect at times but after another terrific shooting night, he brings his field goal percentage up to 58 percent on the year. The Wolves addition of Jimmy Butler has taken a ton of the pressure off of both Karl and teammate Andrew Wiggins and their efficiency has improved because of it.
Highlights

There were way too many individual highlights from Davis last night to just pick one. I would suggest watching this video which has more highlights in one game than most players can pull off in an entire season.

Towns with one of his few ferocious dunks from last night. If he wasn’t slamming it home, he was drilling shots from deep.

The Hornets were down by 15 at one point in the second half to the Memphis Grizzlies before coming all the way back to steal a huge win on the road.
Tonight in the NBA
Only four games for tonight’s NBA slate but the Kentucky-heavy Kings and Suns will be in action. It’s unlikely that Eric Bledsoe will play as the team still looks to move him and Brandon Knight is also out. The Kings and Pacers have both looked impressive considering their low expectations, so expect a fun game there as Victor Oladipo has taken the reins of the Pacers rebuild. The Thunder visiting Milwaukee is the most exciting game of the night and it gives the BBN another chance to watch DeAndre Liggins’ relentless defense and fan-favorite, Patrick Patterson.
