Have a night, Bam!

Following a hip injury that kept him out for a few games, Bam Adebayo came back stronger than ever for the Miami Heat on Monday night after ending with a 22-point, 20-rebound, and 10-assist performance. His seventh-career triple-double helped carry the Heat past the Los Angeles Lakers by a final score of 108-107.

The Lakers were led by Lebron James and another former Wildcat in Anthony Davis, who could have given Adebayo trouble down in the paint, however, a hip injury led to Davis exiting the match up with 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter. Davis left the game with nine points, six rebounds, and four assists in 25 minutes played.

Adebayo was not the only UK alum who played a big part in getting the Heat the last-minute dub against L.A. Shooting guard Tyler Herro was also among the starting five on Monday night and finished off the game with an impressive 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists in 34 minutes. The game came down to the wire in the final seconds as it was a one-point with 8.6 seconds remaining. Clutch defense and Adebayo’s contribution on the glass secured the win for Miami.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to shine

After receiving his first All-Star selection this past season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is continuing to show why he is one of the most talented up-and-coming stars in the league. The Canada native and former Kentucky guard led the Oklahoma City Thunder past the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night, 126-117. SGA was the top-scorer for OKC as he finished the night with 30 points along with eight rebounds, six assists, and one steal in his 37 minutes played.

First-year rookie and fellow former UK guard Cason Wallace also played some big minutes for the Thunder in the win. Wallace tallied the most minutes coming off the bench with 24, coming away with six points, four assists, and four steals in the dub.

Other BBNBA Notes:

  • Tyrese Maxey had another stellar night in Philadelphia, finishing Monday night’s win against the Wizards with 22 points and 11 assists. Eight of his 22 points came in the fourth quarter to cement the 146-128 victory over Washington. Maxey’s assists helped star teammate Joel Embiid to finish things off with 48 points.
  • Julius Randle ended Monday night as the second-leading scorer for the Knicks with 22 points against the newly put-together Clippers. After getting off to a rough start in the first half, New York, along with fellow former ‘Cat Immanuel Quickley, came back in the second half to outscore the Clippers by 18 points.
  • The Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic came away from Monday night with a 134-116 win over New Orleans. Former Wildcat Jamal Murray did not contribute to the Nugget victory after injuring his hamstring and sitting out. He has been ruled out indefinitely.
