Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox tied a season-high in points with 43 in Sacramento’s surprising 130-113 blowout loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.

In the loss, Fox drained seven of his 15 three-point attempts, good for a new career high in three-pointers made in a game.

Fox is on pace to shatter a career-high in points per game this 2023-24 season, as the former SEC Tournament MVP is averaging 30.2 PPG through Sacramento’s first 29 games of the season. His previous career high for points per game in a season was 25.2 PPG, which came back in the 2020-21 season.

In the loss, Fox shot 16-26 from the field (7-15 3PT) while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out four assists.

Trey Lyles was a complete non-factor, as he failed to record a single point in 14 minutes of game action. Malik Monk had a dreadful night as well, making three of his 11 field goal attempts for just seven points.

With the loss, the Kings fall to 17-12 but still remain the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference.

Gilgeous-Alexander’s 34 propels Thunder to win over T’Wolves

Thanks in part to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander‘s 34 points Tuesday night, the Thunder handed the Minnesota Timberwolves just their seventh loss of the season. Karl-Anthony Towns and the T’Wolves have been the biggest surprise of the 2023-24 season so far, as they are currently the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference with a 22-7 record.

The young Thunder core made up of Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams have turned heads this season as well, as OKC is currently the No. 3 seed in the West with a 19-9 record.

Gilgeous-Alexander continued to add to his All-Star resume Tuesday night, scoring 34 points (14/19 FG) while grabbing six rebounds and dishing nine assists, falling one shy of a double-double.

SGA is averaging 31.0 PPG through OKC’s first 28 games of the season, good for third in the NBA behind Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic.

Rookie Cason Wallace garnered 24 minutes of game action Tuesday night but scored just five points on 2-5 shooting. Wallace’s 24 minutes off the bench were the most for the Thunder, as Cason has seemingly carved out a sixth-man role on one of the NBA’s most exciting teams.

Towns, who was questionable heading into the game, played 29 minutes and scored 16 points (5-10 shooting).

Other BBNBA Notes:

  • Keldon Johnson scored 26 points in San Antonio’s 130-118 loss to the Utah Jazz. With the loss, the Spurs fall to a lowly 4-25, good for the second-worst record in the NBA. Johnson is averaging 17.5 PPG and 6.4 RPG in his fifth season with the Spurs.
  • PJ Washington (18) and Nick Richards (13) combined for 31 points in Charlotte’s 113-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Richards is averaging career-highs in scoring (8.8 PPG) and rebounding (7.1) in his fourth season with the Hornets.
