Devin Booker set some records on Friday when he dropped 62 points against the Indiana Pacers. He followed up that performance on Sunday with 44, his 30th 40-plus point game of his career. However, he will be the first person to tell how that ultimately the outings were disappointments because the Suns ended up losing both games.

The Suns won the game prior to their current two-game skid, a matchup where Booker had 46 points. That means over the last three games, Booker is averaging 50.7 points on an insanely efficient 65.1 percent from the field, including 54.2 percent from behind the arc.

Booker’s unfathomable scoring has been offset by the Suns’ 4th-quarter woes, for which Booker blames ball spacing and pace. Phoenix scored just 13 points in the final frame Sunday while giving up 31 to the Magic, not to mention their lead. A similar falter down the stretch on Friday coughed up a would-be win over Indiana.

After looking like they finally got it together, the Suns have slipped up twice in a row, giving ammunition to the Book haters out there who say he specializes in empty stats. It is lunacy to think this, but it has been a hard stereotype to shake. Book and the Suns look to turn things around tonight against Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and the Heat.

The Pistons upset the Thunder, despite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 31 points

It is not too often the worst team in the NBA upsets the team leading their conference, but that’s exactly what happened on Sunday when the Detroit Pistons upended the Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite yet another strong effort from SGA, who once again casually went for 31 points, it was the fighting Kevin Knoxes who came out with the win, bettering their season record to 6-40.

Knox had six points in 14 minutes off the bench for the Pistons, which was better than rookie Cason Wallace who finished with four points, and Olivier Sarr who did not make an impact in minimal minutes.

The Thunder are now tied with Karl-Anthony Towns’ Minnesota Timberwolves as surprise leaders atop the Western Conference standings.
