As if Karl-Anthony Towns hadn’t already been through enough in the past few years, Monday night just continued his run of unfortunate events.

Towns suffered a noncontact calf injury while running down the floor and soon collapsed in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ loss to the Washington Wizards. He was helped off the court and to the locker room by teammate Rudy Gobert and trainers, where an initial examination suggested that Towns had likely avoided a major injury to his right leg. Early reports are suggesting a right calf strain.

Depending on the severity of the injury, Towns could miss anywhere from 1-2 weeks to 3-4 months.

In 20 games played this season, KAT is averaging 21.4 PPG, 8.5 RPG, and 5.4 APG.

Booker Drops 44 in Suns Victory over Monk, Kings

Despite a season-high 30 points scored by Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk, Devin Booker‘s 44 points propelled the Chris Paul-less Phoenix Suns to their fifth straight victory.

Booker’s 44 points scored Monday night was his second-highest point total of the season. He scored 49 points in Phoenix’s loss to the Utah Jazz on November 18th. Book hit both of his free throws with six seconds remaining to put the Suns ahead by two possessions and ensure that the Kings would not be lighting the beam.

Booker became the first Suns player ever with a stat line of 44 points, eight rebounds and six steals or better. Not bad for a guy who came off the bench during his time at Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Monk became the first player to score 30+ points off the bench this season and has cemented himself as a solid candidate for Sixth Man of the Year. De’Aaron Fox had a bit of a down night for the Kings, scoring only 11 points and dishing out five assists in 29 minutes of play.

Murray Scores Season-High 31 Points in Nuggets Victory

Jamal Murray is back folks.

In his 16th game back from his year absence following his ACL tear, Murray looked like the “Blue Arrow” of old Monday night, scoring a season-high 31 points for the Denver Nuggets in a 129-113 victory over the Houston Rockets.

In the midst of his high-scoring game, Murray hit his 700th career three-pointer. He is currently third in Nuggets history in three-pointers made, only 68 behind J.R. Smith and 104 behind Will Barton. Look for Murray to break this record sometime in the near future.

Other BBNBA Notes

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander compiled yet another 30+ point game Monday night, scoring 31 in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 105-101 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. SGA currently leads the league in 30+ point performances with 15, two more than Luka Doncic. He also became one of only three players with a 10/5/5/3/3 game this season, joining Mikal Bridges and Ben Simmons.
  • Anthony Davis put up another solid performance for the Los Angeles Lakers in Monday night’s heartbreaking loss to the Indiana Pacers, posting 25 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four blocks. Through 19 games this season, Davis is leading the Lakers in PPG, RPG, SPG, and BPG.
